Applesauce
Ingredients
- 3-4 pounds cooking apples*, peeled, cored, and quartered
- 1/4 cup dark brown sugar
- 1/4 cup white sugar
- 1 cup water
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 stick of cinnamon
- zest of half a lemon
- juice of one lemon
Directions
Combine all the ingredients in a large pot and cover. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer 20-30 minutes. Remove from heat, and remove cinnamon stick. Mash with a potato masher.
Lasts up to a year in the freezer.
